Message From the President
Valley Ridge Preserve in Wisconsin
This summer we made good progress in promoting and advancing the implementation of sustainability practices.
Our free sustainability webinar series is proving popular. These are short, informational webinars delivering topic introductions for professionals committed to sustainability. One of the free webinars covers the use of offsite native vegetation to support the Valley Ridge Preserve while earning native vegetation points for the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design for Existing Buildings (LEED-EB) certification. The Sustainable Building Services Team has been busy. Five new certifications were earned by Leonardo Academy clients, including two World Bank buildings, two CIM-owned buildings and one American Landmark Properties building.
Our Emissions and Sustainability Team helped to green a number of conferences, including the GovEnergy event in Cincinnati.
Leonardo Academy's Standards Development Process was updated to further refine and improve the process, which was approved by the American National Standards Institute.
Phillips Mushroom Farms donated to support the development of the National Sustainable Agriculture Standard, a process that is wholly funded by grants and donations. This standard will provide guidance to producers on how they can increase the sustainability of their production and provide a system for documenting and communicating these sustainability achievements. There are still opportunities to participate in the National Sustainable Agriculture Standards development process.
