LEED Project Overview: Kelly Creek Elementary School, constructed in 1993, is a 60,055 square foot K-5 elementary school located in Gresham, Oregon. In 2008, Ford Motor Company sponsored the Educate to Escape Contest, a nationwide contest that awarded one K-12 school with the grand prize of an eco-friendly makeover. Kelly Creek Elementary School was chosen as the grand prize winner and, as the contest prize, received a number of green upgrades and assistance from Leonardo Academy with LEED-EB implementation and certification. The LEED-EB implementation effort began in July 2008. Leonardo Academy performed a LEED assessment to determine the school’s certification potential. After much consideration, it was determined the building would strive for LEED Silver certification and would attempt LEED v2009. The project had a 13 month performance period that lasted from July 5, 2008 to August 5, 2009. The building was awarded LEED-EB: O&M 2009 Silver Certification. Key Project Information
